Wendell Biddix

June 17, 1944 - April 1, 2022

Wendell Biddix, age 77, of Garland Road in Spruce Pine, the Altapass community, passed away Friday, April 1, 2022 at his home. Born on June 17, 1944 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Stacy and Ruth Hogan Biddix. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; E.J. and Forrest Biddix and his sister; Lucy Hall. Wendell was a member of the Altapass Church of God. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was wounded in the Tet Offensive in 1968 and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was retired from the N.C. Forest Service following thirty years of Service as the Mitchell County Ranger. He enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to country music, gardening and he was a fan of Duke basketball. Left to cherish his memory is his sons; Robbie Biddix and wife, Kirsten of Hillsborough, NC and Joshua Biddix and wife, Kellie of Charleston, SC; his sisters; Agnes Burleson, Faye Wise, Atlas “Atchie” Benton, and Linda McKinney; his brother; Wallen ‘Bud’ Biddix of Spruce Pine and there are six grandchildren. Private graveside service and interment will be in the McKinney Gap Cemetery.
