Barbara Parsley

Barbara Parsley, age 74, of Boyd Cemetery Road in Little Switzerland, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at her home.She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Parsley who passed away in 2000, her parents and her great-granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth.Barbara Parsley, our mother, our friend was born in Bakersville, North Carolina on October 25, 1944 to Guy and Minnie McGee Hoilman. She was a member of the Black Mountain Baptist Church and was retired from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety where she served as a correctional officer at Marion Correctional. Barbara’s love and strength were witnessed by all those who knew her. She had an avid love for all beings, both furry and human. Barbara loved others with every part of herself. A more loyal daughter, sister, mother, granny and friend could not be found. Her time spent being a caretaker to others is immeasurable. She selflessly served and considered it a blessing. Barbara traveled countless miles across the United States with her family sharing once in a lifetime opportunities, never failing to snap a picture. Although the breathtaking views she was able to behold, none compared to the view from her front porch. Nothing could bring a bigger smile to her face than to be at home surrounded by those that she loved.As she moves forward on her journey, she is remembered well by those who have cherished the moments and memories we shared. We are her family; Toni and Mark Crowder, Terri and Colin Williams, Alyssa and Tim, Andrew, Ashley and Kevin, Adam, Shana and Aaron, Isaiah, Jackson, Blakely, Lindsay and Jayden, sister, Joann (JM) Whitson.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service for Barbara Parsley on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with Rev’s. Josh Cooke and Greg Hollifield officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in the Boyd Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.Special mention to Sarah Burleson and all the remarkable individuals that had a part in Barbara’s care.
