Carolyn Gurley

Carolyn Gurley, age 80, of Snow Creek Road in Bakersville, died Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Brian Center Health & Rehab in Spruce Pine.Born on October 10, 1938 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Carrie Willis Young. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters; Ruth and Katherine and her brother; Charles.Carolyn was a member of the Lily Branch Baptist Church and was retired from the Mitchell County Schools where she served as teacher’s assistant. She loved working and helping children. She loved her church and church family. At church, she sang in the church choir and participated in many church Christmas Plays.Left to cherish her memoires are her husband, Gene Gurley of Bakersville; her sons; Chris Gurley of Mooresville and Tracy Gurley of Bakersville; her daughter; Amy Gurley of Marshall; her granddaughter; Courtney Gurley of Spruce Pine; her brother; Alvin; and her sister; Ruby.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the memorial service honoring the life of Carolyn Gurley on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev.
