Deena Sparks Dickinson, age 57, of Mocksville, formerly of Bakersville, died Sunday, August 2, 2020 at her home.Born on July 25, 1963 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Parnell and Brenda Duncan Sparks.Deena was employed by the North Carolina Department of Labor where she served as an OSHA inspector. She loved being outdoors and being in nature. She also loved working on the farm and working with plants. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping at thrift stores.Left to cherish her memories are her husband of twenty-three years; William ‘Tex’ Dickinson of Mocksville; her sons; Miguel Tehandon and wife, Jill of Mocksville; Raphael Tehandon and wife, Tekora of Lincolnton; and Brandon Dickinson and wife, Heather of Midlothian, TX; her grandchildren; Braxton Tehandon and wife, Jessica, Dakota Tehandon and wife, Ashlyn, Luke Tehandon, Kayden Tehandon, and Azaria Tehandon; her great grandson; Colt Tehandon; her sisters; Portia Phillips and husband, Johnny of Swannanoa and Tracey Sparks of Morganton; and her brother; Parnell Sparks, Jr. and wife, Gigi of Bakersville; several nieces and nephews.A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Sunday, August 9, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Bear Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will be on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Bear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s Bruce Cannon and Dean Honeycutt officiating.
