Gary Lewis Brown, age 62, of Green Park Lane in Spruce Pine passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at his home.Gary was the son of the late Collis and Mary Waycaster Brown. He was a retired truck driver and diesel mechanic.Gary was a tireless volunteer worker for several community organizations. He retired following seventeen years of service with the Green Valley Fire and Rescue Department. He was an active member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church and served many years as a volunteer for Toe Valley Medical Equipment Loan Closet, the Green Valley Community Garden and Winter Soup Ministry.Left to cherish his memories are his wife of thirty years; Marian Robbins Brown of the home; his children; Ben Brown and wife, Stacy of Spear; Brandon Brown and wife, Jessica of Spruce Pine; Crystal Brown of Taylorsville; Kevin Goins of Spruce Pine; and Kristi Goins of Siler City, NC; his brother; Wayne Brown of Burnsville; eleven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.Funeral services for Gary Brown will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 4:30 pm at the Pine Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev’s. John Howard and Ken Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 2:30 pm until 4:30 pm at the church. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with honors provided by the Firemen’s Honor Guard.In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Webb Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.Words of comfort may be e-mailed to the family by going to our website; www.webbfh.com., selecting Gary Brown’s name and then you may sign his guestbook.
