Gladys Ollis Duncan

Gladys Ollis Duncan, age 88, formerly of Fairway Lane in Spruce Pine died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.Born on May 24, 1930 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Ella Weatherman Ollis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Duncan who passed away in 1974. She was also preceded in death by a nephew, Bobby McClellan and a sister, Wilma Burleson and husband, Fred E. Burleson.Gladys was a member of the Pine Branch Baptist Church and was retired from Hampshire Hosiery with twenty-five years of service. She was proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loved reading her Bible. She enjoyed taking walks and her flowers.Left to cherish her memories are her son; Gary Duncan and wife, Paula of Spruce Pine; her grandson; Matt Duncan and wife, Kristy of San Antonio, TX; her granddaughter; Brooke Burleson and husband, Adam of Spruce Pine; and her great grandchildren; Skye Duncan, Troy Duncan, Holland Burleson, and Luca Burleson; and her sister; Edith McClellan of Hickory.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Gladys Ollis Duncan on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Pine Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Joe Greene and Steve Williams officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the church.
