Katherine Stamey

Katherine Faye Edwards Stamey, age 69, of Louis Drive in Spruce Pine, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday July 31, 2020 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.Katherine or ‘Kathy’ as she was known to all who knew and loved her; was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born in Bakersville, NC on September 21, 1950 to the late James and Ruby McKinney Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her half-brother; Jimmy Edwards and half-sister; Sue Toombs, along with several aunts and uncles.Kathy is a graduate of Harris High where she met her high school sweetheart, whom she later married on June 6, 1969. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Bakersville, NC. Kathy loved her church and church family and she loved serving the Lord. She loved her family and spending time with them. In her spare time, she enjoyed working with flowers.Left to cherish her memories is that sweetheart and her loving husband of fifty-one years; Marvin Stamey of Spruce Pine, one daughter; Martha Stamey of Spruce Pine, one granddaughter; Mahayla, and one sister Kay Geouge of Spruce Pine. Also surviving are her half brother; Steve Wexler and wife, Debbie of Statesville along with several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Monday, August 3, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kent Murphy officiating. Interment will be in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve.
