Leon Frye

Leon D. Frye, age 73, of Wildgame Drive in Spruce Pine, the Crabtree community, died Friday, February 8, 2019 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.Born on January 19, 1946 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Robert and Carrie Davis Frye. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Jessie S. Frye who passed away in 2013. He was also preceded in death by his son; Leon Frye, Jr., his grandson, Charles Robert Frye; a brother, Tommy Frye; and a sister, Doris Ann McKinney.Leon was a member and deacon at the Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church. Until his health declined, he was an avid fisherman. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Hallmark movies.Left to cherish his memories are his daughter; Becky Presnell and fiancé, Clayton Riddle of Spruce Pine; his son; Charlie Frye and wife, Tammy of Spruce Pine; his grandchildren; Kayla Presnell and Ricky Presnell; his great grandchildren; Ariea Presnell, Brayden Simmons, and Ricky D. Presnell, III; his brother, Ike Frye and wife, Jewell of Burnsville; and his sisters; Shirley Boone of Spruce Pine and Irene Frye of Wilmington, NC; special niece, Amanda Frye and special nephew, Brian Frye.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Leon Frye on Monday, February, 11, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Dallas Renfro and Cephas Renfro officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Webb Funeral Home.
